她跟Arctic Monkeys一樣，崛起於網路；跟Paris Hilton一樣，都有個名人老爹。是以她個人專輯未出版前，居然已經成了媒體名流。拜myspace之賜，全世界不知多少人已經先見識過這個耍弄小聰明、看來既可惡又可愛的女生；如今她批評英國足球隊與貝克漢的話又頓時成了全英新聞頭條。從這些事來看，很容易找到理由討厭這個叫Lily Allen的人，以及那首僅靠網路下載就登上全英單曲榜第13名，實體發行後順利空降冠軍的單曲〈Smile〉；更別提她那最早的限量黑膠單曲〈LDN〉在ebay上已被哄抬至100英鎊的天價。
也許這一切確實很有炒作意味，可聽過Lily Allen那些經常走著Ska / Raggae因而很有夏日風情、半唸半唱的歌，卻很難忍住不跟著哼。首張專輯《Alright Still》由曼徹斯特知名DJ混音搭檔Future Cut(也就是幾年前曾找來歌姬Jenna G合組Drum’n’bass / Urban三人隊伍Un-Cut的那兩位)與全才嘻哈製作人Mark Ronson等各方要角坐鎮的製作群，以放克、Space-Age Lounge甚至是Madchester風格為底，給足了這才二十出頭的女孩極大的發揮空間，讓她無礙的說自己想說的話，那些關於男女朋友之間，有點滑稽的情節與情緒，比方「You ask if we can still be lovers / I’ll have to introduce my brothers」這類擺明是為了押韻但又很好笑的歌詞。也許正如ID雜誌所言︰「When’s the last time we had an opinionated female pop star？」，於是當新世代聽見這麼有主張，彷彿電影【Mean Girl】真人版的女生，伴隨著悠然的律動，那熱烈的回應就此爆發了。NME照例很誇張地說她將改變我們對流行樂的想法，我們不妨先聽著她的《Alright Still》愉快地度過燥熱難耐的夏日！
